First time we communicate

My experience on this first time was great, I really enjoyed chatting with the other girls. It was much more than what I expected. I hope next time we all be able of speak and see each other.

Looking forward to get in touch soon,

Mari y Sofi.
our opinion is that the idea was great but the expierence has been quite dissappointing because we don't have the technology gadgets to communicate. we hope we have another chance to talk with sweden students.

First skype conversation

We'd like the experience to be more organized, because we didn't like being all togheter in two computers. But we still want to talk with the swedish students to know them before they come in october. We think this is a great experience for practising our english and get to know more about other cultures. :)

SPORTS

Diego Maradona holding the 1986 FIFA Worl Cup.

Football is by far the most popular sport in Argentina. It is not only a sport, but part of the country's culture. The sport is played by children during breaks at school and by grown-ups in the plenty of both indoor and outdoor fields located throughout the country. The country's most famed national football idol historically is Diego Maradona, who is said to be the best player ever known arond the world.

Lionel Messi playing at FCB
The players that astound fans in the country’s stadiums migrate to other leagues where they dazzle the whole world: Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero, Carlos Tevez, are the latest examples of pure talent at a young age that have seduced all
soccer fans.

When talking about Argentina’s sports, there are five names which are impossible to avoid, five great men that have a special place in the heart of the Argentine people, a place they have won with talent, passion, devotion and charisma.
Diego Armando Maradona in soccer, Guillermo Vilas in tennis, Juan Manuel Fangio in car racing, Roberto DeVicenzo in golf, and Carlos Monzón in boxing, have all left their prints in the great history of sports with their accomplishments, and have put our country’s name on the tongue of the whole world.
Volleyball, basketball, tennis, rugby and hockey are also really popular, but still largely amateur in our country.

History of Rosario

Rosario is the largest city in the province of Santa Fe. It is the third largest city in Argentina by its population with a growing and important metropolitan area.
One of its main attractions includes the
neoclassical architecture that has been retained over the centuries in hundreds of residences, houses and public buildings.

Even though the city did not have a clear foundation date Rosario was founded in 7 October 1793 with a local population of 457 inhabitants. On February 27, 1812, General Manuel Belgrano raised the newly created Argentine flag on the shores of the Paraná river, for the first time. Because of this, Rosario is known as the "Cradle of the Argentine Flag". The National Flag Memorial marks the occasion.

Tourism in Argentina

If we are speaking about world tourism, it's good to know that
Argentina is considered one of the most visited countries in America.
Why is that? It is simple... because of its beauty, its geographical extentions, its
cultural offering and its natural attractions which captivates people
all over the world.

You may want to know a bit more about some popular spots in Argentina:
- Buenos Aires City, which is called sometimes the 'Paris of the South',
offers a broad range of cultural and traditional activities like
tango dancing, cafés or sightseeing tours.
- Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the South, provides wonderful views of the
rivers, high mountains, old forests and an amazing 'ice land'.
- Iguazú Falls, which are succeding in being one of the world's 7 nature wonders,
located in the border between Argentina and Brazil, has about 300 water drops that go as high as 70 mts.
- The Argentinean sandy coast, whose wide beaches
are washed by the Atlantic Ocean, formes an incredible place to enjoy.
- Humahuaca Canyon has a long valley in the North with over 10,000 years of
history where ancient cultures dwelled. Today its rituals and traditions are still
alive.

However, from North to South, there are more magnificent and stunning places.
Have you seen them all yet? So, why don't you come and visit ARGENTINA?!

Argentinian Food

In Argentina, food plays a really important role in the culture. Meals are time for family and friends to chat and share a moment together.
The most popular dish is the "asado", it's kind of a barbecue in which you roast most of the parts of the cow, not just the common meat. It's also usual to eat "picada" (small dishes of cheese, salami, olives, peanuts and french frites or other similar ingredients) before the asado.
A traditional drink is "mate", an infusion made with a plant called "yerba mate". People drink it with a tube for sipping in a recipient also called "mate". It can be made of gourd, wood or even bull hoof. It's a custom to share the recipient by many people and they don't mind sharing saliva.
The sweet delight par excellence is "dulce de leche", a candy made of milk and sugar with a really special flavour, eaten by kids and grown-ups.

Argentine Society

Customs and habits:
Some of the most important customs in Argentina are the tango, the barbucue, the "mate",the football and the "dulce de leche". We considered our family as the centre of our hole life.
As regards communication we often touch each other when talking and have little physical distance between speakers.Maintaining eye contact indicate interest. Saying "hi" and "goodbye" to each person, individually,is in Argentina a sign of respect.

Rosario, touristic city.

Rosario is a city of about one million inhabitants which is situated on the banks of Paraná River. You can walk along the coast and you can also sail to the islands. Another touristic attraction is the Flag Memorial.
You can visit its malls, you can do a gastronomic tour on Pellegini Avenue and have a nice evening on Independence Park. And if you like nightlife there are many nightclubs you can go to.
